Privacy Policy
Effective June 2026 · DoubleTake, a series of Idea Mill LLC
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how DoubleTake, a series of Idea Mill LLC ("DoubleTake," "we," "us," or "our"), handles information when you use the DoubleTake website, browser extension, account features, subscription features, and related services (together, the "Service"). DoubleTake is designed so most learning data stays in your browser. Some information is sent to us or to third-party services when needed to provide account, subscription, subtitle, checkout, support, security, analytics, or hosting features.
Information you provide
We may collect information you choose to provide, such as your email address or account identifier when you sign in, support messages you send us, billing-related information needed to manage your subscription, and any information you include in communications with us. Payment details are handled by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card number, but we may receive and retain billing records, subscription status, customer identifiers, transaction metadata, and similar payment-related information from Stripe.
Information collected automatically
When you use the website or extension, we and our service providers may collect technical information such as device and browser type, IP address, pages visited, referral information, timestamps, feature interactions, error logs, and similar diagnostic or usage information. The extension may also process information from the current video page when needed for user-facing features, including page metadata, subtitle tracks, transcript rows, selected words, playback state, and timing information.
Browser storage
The extension stores settings and feature data in browser storage, including Chrome storage and IndexedDB. This may include subtitle appearance settings, language preferences, playback settings, enabled domains, transcript state, subtitle source selections, timing offsets, cached subtitles, saved vocabulary, auth tokens, and optional media used for exports. Local extension data remains on your device unless a feature requires sending it elsewhere, you sync it through your browser account, you export it, or you choose to share it. You can clear extension data through the extension, browser controls, or by uninstalling the extension.
Subtitles, vocabulary, and exports
Subtitle rendering, transcript display, romaji conversion, vocabulary saving, and export generation generally run in your browser. DoubleTake does not upload subtitle text, transcript text, saved vocabulary, screenshots, or audio clips to DoubleTake servers during normal extension use unless a feature clearly requires it. Some subtitle resources may be requested from streaming platforms, content delivery networks, or subtitle providers. Exports, such as Anki packages, are generated locally and may include the vocabulary, context, source metadata, screenshots, or audio clips you choose to include.
How we use information
We use information to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service; authenticate users; check subscription status; process checkout and billing; provide support; troubleshoot bugs; understand website and feature usage; prevent misuse; comply with legal obligations; and communicate with you about the Service. We do not sell personal information. We do not use extension learning data for advertising.
How we share information
We may share information with service providers that help us operate the Service, such as hosting providers, analytics providers, authentication infrastructure, payment processors, customer support tools, and security or logging services. These providers may process information only as needed to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights or safety, to investigate misuse, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets. Third-party platforms and subtitle providers handle information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Third-party services
DoubleTake may interact with third-party services, including streaming platforms and their CDNs for video page and subtitle resources, subtitle providers such as Jimaku for subtitle search or downloads, api.trydoubletake.com for account and subscription features, Stripe for checkout and payment processing, PostHog for website analytics when configured, and hosting providers for trydoubletake.com. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own policies. DoubleTake is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites, platforms, processors, or providers.
Retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide the Service, maintain business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, comply with legal obligations, and protect against fraud or misuse. Local extension data remains in your browser until you change it, delete it, clear extension data, or uninstall the extension. Some cached data may be pruned automatically by the extension.
Your choices
You can stop using the Service at any time. You can clear local extension data through browser or extension controls, sign out of your account, cancel a subscription through the available billing flow, and contact us with privacy requests. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information. To make a request, contact us at cam@ideamill.dev.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date on this page. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice where appropriate. Continued use of the Service after an updated policy becomes effective means you accept the updated policy.
