Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and DoubleTake, a series of Idea Mill LLC ("DoubleTake," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your use of the DoubleTake Chrome extension, the trydoubletake.com website, and related services (together, the "Service"). By installing the extension, creating an account, starting a trial, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority where you live) to purchase a subscription. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
What DoubleTake provides
DoubleTake is a language-learning tool for video pages. It displays dual subtitles, generates romaji, helps you build vocabulary, and can export study material such as Anki cards. The Service operates on content already delivered to your browser by the streaming sites you visit. DoubleTake is provided as software, not as a content library. We do not host, stream, or supply the videos or original subtitle tracks you watch - those come from the third-party platforms and providers you choose to use.
Your account
Some features require a DoubleTake account, which you create by signing in through Chrome's identity flow. You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in access secure. Provide accurate information and let us know promptly at cam@ideamill.dev if you believe your account has been compromised. You may not share, sell, or transfer your account or subscription.
Subscriptions, trials, and billing
DoubleTake may offer a paid Premium subscription. Current pricing, billing periods, and included features are shown on the pricing page or during checkout. We may change pricing on a going-forward basis, with notice before a change applies to your next renewal. Free trial - Premium may be offered with a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically converts to a paid plan and your payment method is charged. We may limit trials to one per person or account. Billing - Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card details. By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method the applicable fee, plus any taxes, on a recurring basis until you cancel. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless cancelled.
Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time. When you cancel, you keep Premium access through the end of your current billing period and are not charged again after that. Cancelling during a free trial stops it before any charge. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods or unused time. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at cam@ideamill.dev and we will review it in good faith.
Acceptable use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use DoubleTake for your own personal, non-commercial language learning. You agree not to: Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the extension, except where the law expressly permits it. Copy, resell, sublicense, or redistribute the extension or any part of the Service. Use the Service to scrape, harvest, bulk-download, or redistribute subtitles, transcripts, video, or other content from any platform. Interfere with, overload, or disrupt the Service or the servers and networks behind it. Circumvent any access, usage, or security limits, or use the Service to break the law or infringe anyone's rights.
Third-party platforms and services
DoubleTake works alongside streaming platforms (such as Netflix and Crunchyroll), subtitle sources (such as Jimaku), payment processing (Stripe), and other third parties. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by those platforms, and their trademarks belong to them. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and policies, and you are responsible for complying with them. You may use DoubleTake only with content and accounts you are authorized to access. We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or the content they deliver.
Intellectual property
The DoubleTake software, website, branding, logos, and design are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. We reserve all rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms. Subtitle, transcript, and video content shown through the extension belongs to the respective streaming platforms and content licensors. DoubleTake does not claim ownership of that content and does not host, reproduce, or redistribute it - it operates on content already delivered to your browser.
Your content
Vocabulary you save, study notes, and exports such as Anki packages are generated and stored locally in your browser, as described in our Privacy Policy. You keep any rights you have in this material. You are responsible for how you use exported content, including respecting the rights of the original content owners.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or compatible with every site, browser version, or piece of content, or that subtitles, romaji, or exports will be complete or accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of the above may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless us and our affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right, including the terms of any streaming platform or subtitle provider.
Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and uninstall the extension. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, or to specific features, if you violate these Terms, if we reasonably believe your use creates risk or legal exposure, or if we discontinue the Service. If your subscription is active when we terminate it without cause, we will refund any prepaid, unused portion. Sections that by their nature should survive termination - including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law - will continue to apply.
Changes to the service
DoubleTake is actively developed. We may add, change, or remove features, supported sites, or other parts of the Service at any time. We are not liable to you for changes to or discontinuation of the Service, though we will try to give reasonable notice of material changes that affect paid subscribers.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and cancel any subscription.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be handled in a court or forum with proper jurisdiction, unless the parties agree to another resolution process in writing. DoubleTake is a series of Idea Mill LLC.
General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and DoubleTake regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, agency, or employment relationship.
